Ratings today – Haven’t juggled a lot.

Diya Aur Baati Hum still manages to be at number 1 position but this time it has fallen! Its ratings are really unpredictable. Last to last week it was 5.0, then last week 5.6 and this week again 5.0. Agree, it’s consistently on number one, but this much difference in ratings?

Jhalak Dikhla Ja’s second week has also been so-so, nothing great; neither in terms of performances nor in terms of the ratings!

Byah Hamari Bahu Ka finishes a month and finally there is a 0.1 rise in ratings of the show. But, viewers are in here for a major twist to be revealed – aakhir kab tak chupayenge ki kyun ho raha hai byah hamari bahu ka? Wait for the mystery to unveil!

Pavitra Rishta has managed to pick up, finally the big drama sold off! Even Balika Vadhu managed to pick up really well. It has helped Colors in GRPs as well.

In 10.30 pm slot, Punar Vivah and Pratigya are still ruling and Bade Acche Lagte Hain fans are not so happy with this! My message to all Bade Acche Lagte Hain fans, please try to enjoy the show and wait for ‘ek nayi shuruwat’, do not lose hope, you might not know, it just become BIGGER and BETTER!

Pyaar Ka Dard Hain – meetha meetha pyaara pyaara opened with the same ratings with which Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein ended – 1.5. Not that great opening as per Star Plus!

GRP wise Star Plus is still at number 1 in GECs; followed by Colors, Zee and Sony. There’s just negligible difference between Zee and Colors channels and both are competing for number 2 position. Sony has been consistently falling and this time it’s a huge fall for it! Buck up Sony team!

Ratings today – Have juggled a lot!

It’s party time for Diya Aur Baati Hum team as well as fans! It has regained its 5.6 ratings and more the drama, more the ratings. Aagey aagey dekho hota hai kya!

Jhalak Dikhla Ja opened with 3.1 which is considerably good! So, let’s see will the shaking of celebs shake the TRPs too?

The third week of Madhubala and Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka has not been that good for them. Ratings have gone down. In Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, there is no clarity as to what is happening or what is about to happen; the story is just going nowhere. Sincerely, time for some major twist in the tale! Madhubala has not been able to live up to its expectations and that’s why it’s obvious for the ratings to decline.

Surprise package was Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuyeh on Zee TV. It has gone up to 2.7. Wishing all the best to the team to maintain it!

After almost, 3 weeks or even more, Bade Acche Lagte Hain (Sony TV) had regained the ratings of 3.1, had also become a slot leader in 10.30 PM slot, last week! But what happened now? It is no more the slot leader…Punar Vivah and Pratigya both are at top most position with same ratings of 3.0! This is a huge fall for Bade Acche Laggte Hain. There was a huge outrage even on this baseless courtroom drama which audience did not like it at all. But nevertheless, we shall look forward to ‘ek nayi shuruwat’, I’m sure, ratings will soar then!

The second week of Madhubala and Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka has not been that good for them. Ratings have gone down. In Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka, the curiosity of the title has yet not been revealed and still the establishment of the base is going on! It’s been 2 weeks now, story has to move forward! Madhubala’s week 2, was so far so good. It has lots of drama yet to be unfolded. Let’s see what twists and turns next week follows; in terms of show as well as ratings!
After opening 11 pm slot and shifting Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, show enjoyed a great jump in the ratings and now its job is to maintain it and increase it. But, seems, the current story is not liked by the audience. Time for a reality check, team!
Also, Sab TV launched its new show along with Hats off “Bhai Bhaiyya aur Brother” and sadly, it has also opened with 0.4 that is very low! Let’s see how next week shapes up! The promos seem funny but not that hilarious too!
After almost, 3 weeks or even more, Bade Acche Lagte Hain (Sony TV) has regained the ratings of 3.1, has also become a slot leader in 10.30 PM slot! After all the leap promos and Priya going to Jail, Niharika’s truth revelation; high pitched drama has got ratings! Kudos to the team! Fans, be happy and wait for some more OTT drama of accident sequence in the upcoming episodes!
Mahadev on Life Ok has increased to 2.1 from 1.6! After the sati track, this Parvati track is also loved by the audience. Way to go !!!
GRP wise Star Plus is still at number 1 in GECs; followed by Zee TV, Sony and Colors.
There’s just negligible difference between the three channels and everyone is fighting for number 2 position.

Too many things happened in last week! Sony TV opened 11 PM slot and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge is shifted to the same. It gained 1.4 ratings. A superb answer to all those who thought the show will not work. Interesting step!

Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka which replaced Kuch Toh Log Kahenge did not quite live up to the expectations in terms of ratings. It is too low for the opening week. Well, the show is practically good, all the best to the team. Wish next week brings out the maximum ratings!

Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon on Colors TV, which replaced Veer Shivaji got an awesome opening of 2.8; spontaneously super hit! The entire concept, execution and editing has been crisp and interesting. Let’s see how far it takes colors TV in terms of GRPs. But, as per first week, the show is a HIT HIT!

Indian Idol opened with 2.1. Again, it was not as per expectations according to the intriguing and heart touching promos. Last week was a major one for Sony TV; too many new steps taken by them, one turned out to be great, others not so great! Also, it lost GRPs as well.

GRP wise Star Plus is still at number 1 in GECs; Zee TV has again regained its number 2 position, followed by Colors and Sony TV.

Why Blue Carpet?

Attendees of the 11th Indian Telly Awards would have been surprised to note a blue carpet rather than a red one when they entered the venue of India’s leading television performance recognition ceremony. Not many knew what it was about.

The decision behind having a blue carpet came about to bring to people’s minds the increasing degradation and pollution of India’s rivers and the government’s apathy towards this rising menace.

Founder of The Indian Telly Awards, Anil Wanvari tweeted: “Why was the red carpet at the 11th Indian Telly Awards blue? Because it was moaning the polluted state of India’s holiest river – Ganga.”

The initiative clearly indicated how even trademark and leading events can be used to highlight certain social issues and causes.

IPL 5 is over and its best positive effect has been witnessed in Diya Aur Baati Hum ratings! It had lot of drama last week and performances of lead actors were worth all praises. Surprisingly even with most interesting matches in its last week, Max ratings decreased!

Bade Acche Laggte Hain completed one year today. Last year the show was launched with great promotions and high expectations. And for a while, it lived up to it too but now the tables have turned. There is lot of happening on its front and a time leap is expected in the show sometime in mid June. Let’s wait and watch what ‘different’ or ‘new’ stuff is in stored for the audience.

Little presence of Barun Sobti aka Arnav in Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon has got little increase in the ratings. Barun, your fans love you a lot, and we wish you finish your movie shoot ASAP, so you can stop playing hide and seek in your show. 😉

Latest offering by Zee TV, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke which replaced Choti Bahu season 2, has got an opening of 1.6 which is OK. The promos were good, first week story was more of establishment of characters and gradual story progression. The show does look promising. All the best to the team!

GRP wise Star Plus is still at number 1 in GECs; Sony TV has regained its number 2 position followed by Zee TV and Colors.

Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 5 – Time to meet the Dancing Stars!

It’s time for the celebrities and well-known faces to perform with professional dance partners on a highly competitive stage. This time Colors is back with Season 5 of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. As mentioned in our earlier post “Dhak Dhak Girl is back on television with ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ season 5″  Madhuri Dixit will be one of the judges for this show. So who are the other two judges?  Well, guess what? Karan Johar and Remo D’Souza will be judging the contestants on this dance reality show. So now that you are aware of the 3 judges would you like to know the 14 participants that they will be judging? Are you excited to know all the celebrity participants?

Here are the top 14 contestants for you:

Isha Sharvani: She is a dancer and actress. Well known for her stylistic and difficult dance performances. She has also starred in some Bollywood films such as Kisna: The Warrior Poet, Darwaza Bandh Rakho and Rocky: The Rebel. She does have a strong chance to bag the top position this year, based on her strong command on this art form.

Talat Aziz: We all know him as a very popular ghazal singer and is also known to perform in front of large audiences. But will he be able to charm the audience with his dancing moves? Well only time will tell if he is able to do that.

Bharti Singh: Bharti Singh aka the “Lalli” of Indian television has certainly made an impact and is also all over Comedy Circus. It will be interesting to see her dance to the tunes of the choreographer.

Ravi Kissen:  Popularly known as Ravi Kishan, is an Indian film actor, voice actor and television personality, who works in Hindi cinema and Bhojpuri cinema. In 2006, he participated in Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother. This show might not be a tough task for him as he has done many films and dancing should come easily to him.

Sanath Jayasuriya:  Is a former Sri Lanka cricketer and was an all-rounder, who had an illustrious international cricket career that spread over two decades. He is also a politician in Sri Lanka. So will he be able to pull it off on this dance arena?

Darsheel Safary: He is best known for his acclaimed portrayal of a dyslexic child in the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. It must be noted that Darsheel was selected for his debut film from a Shiamak Davar class, so needless to say that the 16 year old will be quite a force to reckon with on the show!

Gurmeet Choudhary: He has made his debut in the 2008 television series Ramayan as Lord Rama and was also know for his role in one of the most successful and popular show on STAR One Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi. Currently he is playing the role of Yash in Punar Vivah on Zee TV. So are you excited to see him put on his dancing shoes!!!

Karan V Grover: He is best known for his portrayal of Arjun Goenka in Saarrthi that aired on STAR Plus, establishing him as a household name. He is also currently working for Rajshri Productions’s show Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli opposite Suhasi Goradia Dhami. Will he be the dark horse?

Meghna Kaur (Gill) Malik : She is a TV and film actress, who is popularly known as the high-handed Ammaji of Na Aana Is Des Laado, a show focusing on female infanticide and other atrocities against women. Will she be able to rock this show with her woman power?

Manish Paul is an Indian television actor who gained recognition after he hosted singing and dance reality. He also hosted Dance India Dance Li’l Masters on Zee TV and he is currently hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar on Zee TV.  Before getting into anchoring, manish paul has acted in many serials like Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi on NDTV Imagine, Zindadil (ZeeNext), Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai on Star One.

Avika Gor: Our very own Anandi. Yes the child actress, famous for playing Anandi in the show Balika Vadhu will also be part of this show. Will this Child Actor be able to win the hearts of the audience with her dancing moves?

Pratyuksha Banerjee: Also know as Sr Anandi. Yes she is the one who had stepped into the shoes of Avika Gor will be seen in this show. Can she beat Jr Anandi? It will be interesting to see the two fight it out on the dancing arena.

Hina Khan : She plays a lead Protagonist role in the Indian TV drama series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus. No doubt that she has won numerous awards as Favourite Bhabhi, Favourite Patni and Favourite Beti. But will she bag the title of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 5?

And finally we have Giaa Manek, she is currently playing the lead role in Star Plus‘s serial Saathiya. She too is a popular household name, but will she be able to stand out on the dancing arena?

Even though IPL matches were interesting and there was a lot of buzz about match fixing; it’s steady in terms of the ratings. Surprisingly Life Ok’s Mahadev has gone up immensely; from 1.1 to 2.3. That’s an awesome hike! It took Life Ok to another level altogether, and the difference is noticeable in its GRPs. Even Saubhagyavato Bhava rose to 1.4 from 1.1. Kudos to life Ok team!

Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon and Pratigya have dropped dramatically! Seems like, Mr. Barun Sobti’s MIA trick is not working in favor of Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon. And about Pratigya, well, there has to be less of drama and more of story to keep people hooked on.

Sony TV’s over all GRPs has decreased and there are only 2 shows with good ratings viz. Kya Huaa Tera Vaada and Bade Acche Laggte Hain. Rest all shows have low ratings and nothing exciting to look forward to in terms of the content.

GRP wise Star Plus is still at number 1 in GECs, followed by Zee TV, Colors and Sony TV respectively. Few weeks back, Sony was on number 2, then number 3 and now it’s on number 4.

The show has got 6.2 TVR, which is Remarkable!

Again, I’m very happy to see so many numbers in Blue. But this time, IPL has ruled again; as you can see above, Max has the highest TRPs. Star Plus has still maintained its top position in GECs and this time have also shown a hike in its GRPs. Zee TV fans be happy; as it has gained its number 2 position after competing with Sony TV for quite some time now. Sony is now on number 3 as per GRPs, followed by colors on number 4.

Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada has picked it up so well. ‘Kaalit potna’ track managed to actually gain ratings. The current track is very interesting and it clearly depicts that audiences love it. Last to last week its rating was 1.7 which increased to 2.2 and now it’s 2.4. It has shown a consecutive hike past 3 weeks. Now, I really hope this consistency is maintained!

Shocker is, now Bade Acche Lagte Hain is not the only top show on Sony TV, it has to share its position with Kya Hua Tera Vaada. Now the big question is; will the magic of Kyunki-Kahani be recreated? Considering both the shows and the time slot 10-11 pm; will that happen? What do you think?

Sudden decline has been noticed in Tarak Mehta Ka Oooltah Chashma on Sab TV. The creative team needs to show something very different and not make it so monotonous every week.

Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behena Hai, Saathiya and Yeh Rishta have managed to increase. Last week’s decline helped them to come up with newer tracks and a fast pace story which has been witnessed today in terms of ratings. Good Job!

I feel really good to see maximum numbers in BLUE!!! Ratings of your favorite shows have increased 🙂

  • Diya Baati Aur Hum has regained its ratings of 5.0 and still there are 100 percent chances of increasing it next week; as Mr. Amir Khan will be making a special appearance on the show in order to promote his own offereing ‘Satyamev Jayate’ starting 6th May, Sunday, 11 am.
  • While, Saathiya fans might be sad as the ratings have kept on declining for a while now. But nevertheless, I’m sure writers are working hard to gain back it’s number 1 position. Let’s wait and watch how soon that happens!
  • The new show Ek Dusre Se Karte Hain Pyar Hum which replaced Sasural Genda Phool has got an opening of 1.9; while Sasural Genda Phool ended with 2.2. Let’s see next week, how the show helps Star Plus in TRP charts!

Remarkable increase has been seen in Kyaa hua Tera Vaada -2.2 (1.7). Balaji is rocking with all 4 on-air shows of them! Last week Bade Acche Lagte Hain showed a hike of 0.4 and this week it’s Kya Hua Tera Vaada with a hike of 0.5. Time to celebrate! They’ve also done quite good promotions on Sony Max during IPL matches. The promos of Kya Hua Tera Vaada and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain were and are really rocking! But I guess it has declined IPL ratings! Is this the case? Do you feel airing promos of Sony TV’s serials and increase in their ratings is the reason for IPL ratings to decline? IPL saw considerable loss in GRPs of Max. It is 299 this week in comparison to 344 last week.

@undercoverpro smartly tweeted: “Nice Ratings management. Max loses 40 odd points and Sony gains about the same. It’s like Transfer Pricing.”

GRP wise Sony happily regained its number 2 position back and has given tough competition to Star Plus. There is just 15 points of difference between the two. This gap can be filled with such awesome content of the shows.
