Is Comedy Circus losing it’s popularity…..

Comedy Circus – A slight mention of the show can throw a person into fits of laughter, that’s how.  Comedy Circus is a reality-based stand up comedy show that brings the TV celebrities to perform with professional comedian partners on a highly competitive and challenging stage. No doubt that it has made a special place on Television, but somehow it’s getting a bit too predictable. It started way back in 2007 and since then, the show has provided a great platform for the artists and made them popular. There have been various judges that have come and gone on this show like  Satish Shah, Johny Lever, Shekhar Suman, Rohit Shetty, Ajay Jadeja, Tusshar Kapoor, Daler Mehndi  and  Sohail Khan . But Archana Puran Singh has been an integral and a permanent part of the show since day one and is still going strong in 2012 as well.

Comedy Circus has been successful in terms of entertaining the television audience for years and has tried to get in a new concept season after season. Following is the list of Seasons that they have come up with:

–  Comedy Circus 1

– Comedy Circus 2

–  Kaante Ki Takkar

–  Comedy Circus – Chinchpokli To China

–  Comedy Circus 20 – 20

–  Dekh India Dekh

–  Comedy Circus 3 Ka Tadka

–  Maha Sangram

–  Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars

–  Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo

–  Jubilee Comedy Circus

–  Comedy Circus Ke Taansen

– Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur

– Kahani Comedy Circus Ki

You might say that it’s an exhaustive list for a format that has been around since around 5 years. After every season one gets a feeling of what next? What will they name the next season?  What new flavors will keep the audience glued? Who will replace the judge? (Not Archana) 😉

Episode after episode, you might think what will Kapil perform next, will Krushna  and Sudesh Lehri bring in something new? Will Rajeev Thakur be able to create the same magic that he had in the previous seasons? These are just a few questions that you might ask. Somehow the show is getting a bit too predictable and ending up losing its grip on the television audience. No doubt  it’s a show which uses improvisation, and all forms of humor in order to make the people laugh but do you think it’s time for them to come up with something new and unique in order to get the audience back smiling.

Do let us know your views on this and also about your favorite moments about this show.

Happy  Viewing.

It’s time to cheer for your favourite teams – IPL is Back

After loads of controversies and lots of hue and cry, IPL is finally back. Yes, it’s time to cheer for your favourite teams. This is the 5th season of IPL since the launch in 2007. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the home venue of the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. The tournament will begin on April 4 and end on May 27 2012. This season the number of teams in the league went from ten to nine with the termination of Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

Who will you be cheering this season !!  Chennai Super Kings / Deccan Chargers / Delhi Daredevils / Kings XI Punjab / Kolkata Knight Riders / Mumbai Indians / Rajasthan Royals  / Royal Challengers Bangalore or Pune Warriors India 😉 Thanks to Sahara, Pune has been renamed as Pune Warriors India.

Recently the 2012 auctions were held and there were some players that have recently entered the “MILLION” league of players. 23-year-old Ravindra Jadeja, whose base price was $100,000, went to Chennai after the tie-breaker between the two teams – CSK and Deccan Chargers. He was sold for a staggering amount of $2 million (approx. Rs 9.72 crore) .Crazy right !!!  And the second most expensive player was Mahela Jayawardene (SL) with 1.4 Million, bought by Delhi Daredevils. Well that’s not all as some of you might be surpried when you see the players that went unsold at this years auction. Those include – VVS Laxman (Ind), Ajantha Mendis (SL), Mark Boucher (SA) Ramnaresh Sarwan (WI ), Ravi Rampaul  (WI), and 7 other England cricketers. Strange but true 😉

IPL has somehow always lived up to the expectations and sometimes beyond it. Not many sports have an event where you can enjoy a specialized T20 game like cricket which already calls for a lot of entertainment with the bat and bowl, along with cheerleaders dancing to your entertainment at every fall of a wicket or score of a boundary. And not to forget the Bollywood stars cheering their franchise with the crowd. Overall, it adds color to the event which makes it more of a festival than just a game.
So are you ready to be a part of the Cricket’s biggest Carnival !! Do let us know your favourite Team and Players.

New Shows to be launched in February on Indian Television

We are in the second month of 2012 and television industry is all set to launch the brigade of its new shows. We bring an update for our viewers about such four new shows which will be released in this month on top four channels of television.

Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein on Star Plus will be launched on 14th February. The release date of the show has been chosen as Valentine’s Day as the story is loosely based on a girl who will sacrifice her love for the love of her country. The story of the show revolves around Aaliya played by Deblina Chatterjee, a young college girl who falls for a guy and her love for the guy is like any other young woman full of passion, spirit and rebel. But circumstances take a u-turn when she has to sacrifice everything for her country. The story has a fresh appeal to it however it will be too early to say anything as it might end up like any other love story shows currently aired on tv.

Shubh Vivah which is stated to release on 27th February on Sony Entertainment Television is like ‘Old wine in a new bottle’. The show is a remake of a tamil series ‘metti oli’ that revolves around lives and struggles of a father and his five daughters. Sony tv has been able to break the shackles of typical saas-bahu sagas with its shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Dekha Ek Khwab, Parvarrish and recently Kya Hua Tera Vaada. However there is a doubt that this age old concept of a father who is struggling to get good and ideal grooms for her five daughters work with the audience.

Jamuna Paar will release on 27th February on Imagine tv. Imagine tv recently launched another new show ‘Mi, Aaji aur Saheb’ that has a good concept. Jamuna Paar is another love story given a typical treatment where a beautiful, cute and die-hard romantic at heart girl falls for a casual, carefree boy. The catch is that the girl belongs to a rich family based in New Delhi and a guy belongs to a normal middle class family living in yamunpar known as Jamuna paar too. Let us see how this new show will fair among other not so great shows airing on Imagine tv currently.

Punar Vivaah is a new show by Zee tv which will be launched on 20th February. Like all other channels even Zee tv is now trying something new and different with this show. Punar Vivaah is about re-marriage of people who have lost their spouses. The female lead played by Kratika Sengar portrays a single mother who was deserted by her husband. Gurmeet Choudhary plays the role of a young man whose wife is no more and he has two daughters. They end up marrying each other due to pressure from their families and for the sake of their children. The story will unfold how such couples stay together under tough circumstances and how their emotions and feelings bring them together.

Do let us know which show will keep you hooked on to television.

Down the Memory Lane : Sarabhai vs Sarabhai

I’m sure those of you who have seen Sarabhai vs Sarabhai would surely remember all the unique & out-of-the-box characters of the show. For those who have missed this amazing show, here is a brief background about it. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was aired in 2005 on STAR One channel. The story involved an upper class family based in Mumbai. The show revolved around the life of a fictional Gujarati family, the Sarabhais. They were portrayed as a typical family belonging to the class of elite socialites of Mumbai. They did live in a luxurious apartment in Sarabhai mansion located in the upmarket Cuffe Parade area of South Mumbai. Their family consisted of Indravadan Sarabhai and his wife Maya, who used to live in an apartment with their younger son Rosesh. And their eldest son Sahil and his wife Manisha Sarabhai used to live in the flat opposite theirs.

‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ went off the air long back, but the re-runs of the popular show have been on-air eversince with a huge viewership . But now that Star One is revamped, all we can do is watch the show on YouTube. Buzz was that a sequel to the show was being planned but nothing was heard about it later. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai had an amazing cast with every character having a special place in the hearts of the audience. Who can forget the sweet fights between Maya and Manisha. Oops.. It’s Monisha. 😉  Actually Maya had changed her name to Monisha before marriage as she thought it was a middle class name.  And the great Indravadan and his two sons, Roshesh and Sahil. You would also recollect those cute moments when Indravadhan would make fun of Roshesh, left right and center ;). And how can we forget  Sahil and Monisha’s non stop arguments.

There were also other characters who have made this show memorable. Those include Dushyant (played by the director Deven Bhojani). He was Maya’s son-in-law, married to her daughter Sonya. When the rest of the family was busy discussing some serious matters, he would create a lot of chaos by quoting facts about gadgets and their technical details. He always used Roshesh as a live example during this stage. Do you remember Madhusudan kaka aka Madhu who would refuse to use a hearing aid and this would add a new flamour of humour. Indravadan did really have a tough time explaining Madhu Bhai about the incidents that occurred in the family via enacting them.

Did I forget something.. I Know I Know, you are eagerly waiting for Rosesh’s wonderful Kavita’s. This was one of the major attractions of the show and I am sure that the audience still remember some of his poems.  So let me take this opportunity to take you back to those Mind-blowing poems. Here is one of those masterpieces..

Asman mein uud raha hai kabutar ….
Aasman mein uud raha hai kabutar ….
FLUTTER ….. FLUTTER….. FLUTTER……

Hawa mein hain khushi ki aroma
jeet gayi momma, jeet gayi momma
say hi to happiness n tata to trauma
jeet gayi momma, jeet gayi momma

Lagul lagul lagul lagul
laal laal lagul lagul JELLY
jelly ke cabre dancer jaise shareer mein chhupi hai
anjaani ankahee paheli

Jelly hai moma ka mann

sangeeta rita mita aneeta

Khatar khun khatar khun khatar khun
Sun mere dil ki dhun
Tere pyaar ki oiling mil gayi isey

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is one of the best and the most sophisticated comedy show you will ever see. So let us know if you would like to have it back on Television with new eposides. Do share your favorite Roshesh Poems 😉
